Fill a small saucepan with water and spices. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
Pour the homemade almond milk and the maple syrup.
Over low heat gently heat the milk until hot but not boiling.
Cover and let steep for 15 minutes.
Pour the milk into a cup through a sieve to strain out spices. Keep the star anise and add it in the cup.
