This version of mock tuna is packed with nutrients, fiber, protein, essential fatty acids and phytonutrients. The texture of this recipe comes pretty close to the real thing!

How It's Made

  • 1 cup Sunflower Seeds
  • 1 cup raw European almonds
  • 1 tsp fresh dill
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 4 tbsps lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup celery
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced
  • ⅓ cup pickles
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp capers
TRICK Soaking the nuts and seeds allow them to become softer and easier to digest as the enzymes become active. It’s best to soak nuts/seeds overnight for the best result. However, if you are in a rush a few hours can suffice.

  1. Soak the seeds and almonds in lukewarm water for 10 to 12 hours to start the germination process.
  2. Put it all in the blender and hit the start button! For those who like their “tuna” chunky add the onions and celery at the end!
  3. Sever on whole grain bread, in a lettuce lead or wrapped in coloured greens!
