Kale, Basil and Hemp Pesto

Fresh pesto is the perfect compliment to any pasta dish, salad or sandwich. This recipe with added hemp seeds and kale gives you that extra boost of protein. With a recipe this simple, there's no reason why you should ever have to resort to store-bought pesto again!


How It's Made


  • 3 cups of kale cabbage
  • 1 cup of fresh basil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3/4 cup of Hemp Seeds
  • 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 cup of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt


  1. In a food processor mix together the garlic, kale, hemp, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Mix while slowly adding the olive oil, use more or less depending on your desired consistency. Adjust seasoning to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice.

You can easily freeze this pesto recipe in an ice cube tray for future use. The pesto will keep fresh in the fridge for several days in an airtight container.
