Fig Energy Bar

This is a classic PRANA recipe as it was one of the first products sold in stores almost 10 years ago! As popular as it was, the product was retired when we became a gluten-free company in 2009. But now, for the first time, we are proud to share with you our famous Fig Energy Bar recipe so that you can now make at home on your own!

How It's Made


  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1 1/2 cup of dried figs
  • 3/4 cup of European almonds
  • 1 cup of Walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cup of Shredded Coconut
  • 1/2 cup of European Pumpkin Seeds
  • 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • 1 cup of spelt flour
  • 1 1/3 cup of rolled instant oats
  • 1 1/3 cup of spelt or kamut flakes
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup of sunflower oil
  • cup of maple syrup


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Make chia gel by pouring the water into a small bowl, adding the chia seeds, and mixing lightly. Let sit while making the rest of the recipe.
  3. Dice the dried figs, chop the almonds and walnuts into small pieces, and cut pumpkin seeds into large pieces. Put into a bowl and add the shredded coconut and sesame seeds. Mix and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl stir together the oats, kamut flakes, flour, cinnamon and sea salt. Add the nut & seed mixture and chopped figs and stir. Now, pour the sunflower oil, maple syrup and chia get. Mix until all ingredients are evenly blended together.
  5. Press the dough into a 10 x 15 1/2 inch baking tray lined with parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to press the dough firmly into the tray. Using a big knife, press marks into the dough as if you were cutting the bars so that when the bars will be cooked, it will be easier to cut the bars into even sizes.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until the edge of the dough in the tray becomes golden brown. Let cool completely before cutting into bars. The bars will keep for up to 3 weeks in a Ziploc bag or airtight container.
