Dried Fig Gingerbread

Enjoy this new take on a classic gingerbread that incorporates dried figs and maple syrup!

How It's Made


  • 2 cups of rye flour or all-purpose gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 cup of maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of gingerbread spices blend
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 dried figs
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut 6 dried figs into thin slices, then mix all the dry ingredients together (figs, flour, spices, baking soda, and yeast)
  3. In a pan, heat the almond milk, water and maple syrup, making sure not to boil.
  4. In a food processor or using a hand mixer, mix the dry ingredients while slowly adding the liquids until it becomes consistent and smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased pan and add place some thinly sliced figs on top. Reduce the oven head to 300°F and bake for 40 minutes.
  6. To check if the dough is cooked, puncture it with the tip of a butter knife. If it is dry when removed it is cooked.
The gingerbread will keep for several weeks when kept well wrapped!
