Tahini, Date and Cardamom Caramels

Try this sweet treat recipe for an afternoon pick-me-up, or dessert!

How It's Made


  • 10 Medjool Dates
  • 1/2 cup of tahini paste
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds


  1. Mix all ingredients in a food processor except for the salt. Mix until smooth.
  2. Line a rectangular bread mould with parchment paper or plastic wrap. Evenly press the mixture into the mould, then sprinkle with salt and sesame seeds. Place in the freezer for an hour.
  3. Remove the dough from the mould and cut into small, even squares. Keep refrigerated or in the freezer.

I made these and have shared with colleagues and friends and they all loved it. The Tahini and cardamom in it intrigues everyone that have not tried oriental sweet dishes. I made the caramel and shaped them into balls instead of the squares and have coated them with sesame seeds and/or coconut flakes and put them in mini cups in foil for presentation. This is a wholesome easy snack that is packed with great ingredients that are good for everyone and perfect in the afternoon when we all need a little energy! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
