They are farmed by over 4,200 Spanish families and grow on trees that drink only rain water. The indigenous almond tree orchards are not irrigated, which means that Spanish almonds use substantially less water than their California cousins.

Native to Central Asia and introduced by the Arabs during their 8th century conquest of Spain, the European almond was widely used in Europe during the Middle Ages to prepare both soups and sweet desserts.

Culinary Uses

Almonds are a key ingredient for various recipes. Raw organic almonds make the best homemade nut milk, yogurt, cake bases, cookies, energy balls and so much more! You can substitute cow’s milk in most recipes with homemade raw almond milk.

Note: European almonds have a light naturally sweet taste, but they can sometimes be bitter, due to their country of origin and the way they are grown.

These raw almonds are super quality! I soak them over night then put the nuts on a baking sheet with parchment paper. I roast them in the lowest temperature in the oven all night & part of the day until they are completely dry & absolutely delicious. This is a great portable snack which I put into my pockets & when I'm on the go, & feeling hungry, I eat my nuts. They keep me satiated for hours so my blood sugar level is balanced.
