Lemon & fresh herb tofu dip with cashews

Store bought tofu dip has nothing on this recipe! It's about 1000 times better, and is made without preservatives and artificial flavourings. We like to add a handful of cashews towards the end for an extra-crunchy touch that switches up the traditional creamy texture of this crowd-pleasing favorite. If you're in a hurry and don't have time to let the tofu marinate, no worries! Just mix the tofu with the marinade, let sit for a few minutes, and then pulse together in the food processor. Delicious with both crudités and homemade crackers, this dip also makes a great egg-less egg salad sandwich spread! Yum!


How it's made


Lemon and fresh herb marinade

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of
  • 1/2 cup of fresh basil
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil

For the dip


  1. Cut the tofu into cubes, and dry thoroughly with a clean dish towel.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the ingredients for the marinade together. Add the cubes of tofu and let marinate for at least 45 minutes, or overnight if you can. Alternatively, you can just mix the tofu and the marinade ingredients together and skip to the next step.
  3. Place the tofu and half the marinade in the bowl of your food processor, and add the carrot and celery. Pulse a few times before adding the rest of the ingredients. Mix again for several seconds to make sure everything gets blended together.
  4. Serve with homemade crackers and crispy vegetables, or use as a sandwich spread.
