Golden Milk with Turmeric, Cashews and Cardamom

Turmeric is used in Ayurvedic medicine to stimulate and protect the digestive organs. It also has many anti-inflammatory properties as well as is loaded with antioxidants, making it an all-around good thing. If you're already suffering from a cold, we suggest you mix turmeric in a glass of water with some lemon. For a tastier treat, try this recipe with cashew milk (directions below!)


How It's Made: Turmeric Paste



  1. Prepare the turmeric paste by mixing all the ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium for 3 to 4 minutes maximum, stirring constantly until the mixture becomes a thick paste.
  3. Let cool and keep in a small airtight container in the refrigerator. The paste should last for 7 to 10 days.

How it's made: homemade cashew milk



  1. Soak the cashews for 30 minutes. Rinse and drain.
  2. Mix the cashews, water, salt, and maple syrup in a food processor or blender until smooth and creamy.
  3. Cashew milk will keep in a mason jar in the fridge for 5 to 7 days.

How It's Made: Golden Milk


  • 1 cup of cashew milk (or almond or coconut milk)
  • 1 teaspoon of
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon (or more) of turmeric paste
  • A pinch of ground vanilla
  • to taste


  1. In a small saucepan, mix all the ingredients and heat for several minutes.
  2. Once heated, transfer to the blender and mix for several seconds so the ingredients emulsify.

For a quick anti-inflammatory & antioxidant fix:


  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 1 tablespoon of Turmeric Paste
  • A squeeze of lemon


Stir all ingredients together in a mug and enjoy! This quick fix makes a great drink for when you're suffering from a cold. Not only will it warm you up from the inside out, but turmeric's anti-inflammatory properties will help with that stuffy nose!
