Cranberry and Fig Chutney

A perfect chutney for the holidays that will fill your kitchen with delicious fragrance. Surprise your friends and family by gifting them this homemade chutney.

How It's Made


  • 6 dried figs
  • 1 cup cranberries sweetened with apple juice
  • 1/4 cup of Walnuts
  • 1/2 cup of yellow onions
  • 2 tablesoons of apple cider vinegar
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • Two pinches of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup of water


  1. If the dried fruits are a bit tough or hard, soak them for 10 minutes in lukewarm water.
  2. Chop the figs into small cubes.
  3. Chop the walnuts into large chunks.
  4. Using a little vegetable oil, saute the walnuts over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, cranberries and chopped figs.
  5. Add the maple syrup, nutmeg and splash with the apple cider vinegar. Simmer for 5 minutes, then add the water.
  6. Cover the pan and let simmer for 30 to 40 minutes over low heat.
  7. If you find the chutney too sticky or thick, add a bit of water and continure cooking until you reach your desired consistency.
The chutney will keep in an air tight container in a refrigerator for several days.
